STAY2GROW supports the retention of skilled professionals in the wir4 region
With STAY2GROW, the wir4 region is taking action to address the skilled labour shortage while supporting the long-term integration of international students. The project connects international students from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences with regional companies at an early stage and actively fosters their social integration into the local community.
A central part of STAY2GROW is the creation of the network for international talents: Regional companies are working together with municipalities and public authorities to create synergies, avoid duplication, and combine expertise. Since the beginning of the year, the partners have been in regular exchange, developing practical measures to support both students and employers.
International students will benefit from a wide range of support opportunities. These include mentoring programmes with representatives of regional companies, as well as workshops designed to familiarise students with the German workplace. Key topics include the application and interview process, basic employment law, and everyday professional life in Germany.
In spring 2027, the excursion week „Campus meets Company“ will launch as another key initiative supporting students’ career orientation. It will give students the opportunity to visit regional companies and gain practical insights into careers closely related to their degree programmes.
The next network meeting will be hosted 8 July from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. . PLEASE JOIN! All interested professionals and company representatives from across the region are very welcome to get involved, build new connections, and help shape innovative solutions for talent retention. Step by step, this creates a sustainable network that brings together skilled talent retention, integration, and regional collaboration.
If you have any questions or would like to take part in the next network meeting, please feel free to contact Josephine Runge or Sarah Bothen. Let's all grow and thrive together.
